    Support to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, India

    Date: From Oct 01, 2016 to Sep 30, 2017
    IQLS will support the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) laboratories in order to implement Quality Management System, to improve diagnostic capacities and the biosafety. IQLS will perform several missions on site to train RIMS Laboratory staff and help them implement the recommendations and new technics and it will ensure mentoring. The project is funded by CDC under the Global Health Security Partner engagement: expanding efforts and strategies to protect and improve public health globally.

    Laboratory Quality Management Systems Strengthening in India

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides international technical assistance in support of a number of US government agency programs that aim at improving surveillance capability. CDC works with foreign government Ministries of Health and Agriculture to strengthen their existing national veterinary and public health laboratory systems infrastructure and capability in order to ensure reliability, timeliness and usefulness of laboratory data and reporting for detection, surveillance and response. The objectives of the project are to conduct assessments, a series of training workshops, consultations and mentoring activities on assessed and identified gaps in laboratory quality management systems in India to support Indian laboratories and CDC’s global health mission and to provide targeted technical assistance.

    Assessment of the National Laboratory System and Facilities

    Date: From Jun 01, 2013 to Dec 30, 2014
    Country: Cambodia and India
    In the frame of a CDC contract,  Dr Antoine Pierson and Mr Arnaud Orelle spent 3 weeks in Cambodia during October 2013 to assess 22 laboratories all around the country. The Cambodian laboratory system was also assessed. Previously in July, they trained 12 local assessors for standardized facility assessment, using a laboratory assessment tool specifically refined for Cambodia. Then, between November and December 2013, the same IQLS experts performed a 4-week laboratory assessment in India. Forty-seven laboratories were assessed in 13 different states within the country. Two different laboratory systems were also assessed, and 14 local assessors were trained for standardized facility assessment, using a refined laboratory assessment tool specifically for India
