Mr. Arnaud Orelle conducted a safety and biosafety assessment in Ghana at the regional level, including the 4 Public Health located in the 4 main cities of Ghana (Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Sekondi). The main aim of these assessments was to identify some gaps and the main limitations in order to propose corrective actions and to maintain continual improvement as part of the quality initiative into these laboratories.
Dr. David Opare, director of the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (Accra, Ghana), and Mr. Jacob Quarm, Senior Technologist from Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (Accra, Ghana) were part of the assessment team.
This project is part of the US-CDC Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) initiative, aiming at helping countries and individuals improve laboratory networks, laboratory/epidemiology collaboration and contribute to updated IHR (2005) (IHR) implementation.
The project is funded by the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL).
