This training has been conducted by Dr Philippe Dubois and Dr Frederick Gay (IQLS consultants). The main topic of the training was the National Strategic Plan for elimination of malaria in Cambodia. It based on a set of discussion between participants and local facilitators: which laboratory techniques for Plasmodium detection will be needed during the pre-elimination phase of the National Strategic plan in order to provide data to epidemiological surveillance, for each of the successive phases of the plan. Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive and Negative predictive values of available assays were studied, and their efficacy analyzed according to geographical or local epidemiological specificities.
