With funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Palladium has won the second Phase of the Tackling Deadly Diseases Africa Programme TDDAP 2. IQLS, as part of the consortium, is supporting Output 3 of the programme, which aims to strengthen national public health surveillance and laboratory systems to better detect and respond to public health threats and outbreaks in TDDAP2 focus countries (DRC, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda).
It aims to improve laboratory capacity for the collection, transportation, and processing of samples for the diagnosis, confirmation, and characterization of all specimens to detect public health threats and outbreaks at all levels
The overall project aim is to improve global health security by improving IHR laboratory core capacities in the countries, with the first year focusing on improving the implementation of Quality Management systems in key human and animal health reference laboratories. In all countries, IQLS is :
• Supporting Laboratory QMS implementation towards ISO:15189 2022 and ISO:17025 accreditation through baseline audits, roadmap development, QMS implementer training and supporting the mentorship process through site visits and onsite training
• Supporting the National EQA programme development and implementation towards ISO:17043 accreditation in Ghana
• Organizing webinar series ( 3 sessions) on LQMS in all countries
