Date: July 2025 – December 2026
Country : Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo
IQLS is supporting laboratory systems strengthening in Cameroon, Chad, the Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo and Gabon under the CEMAC regional component of the World Bank’s Regional Health Security Program in West and Central Africa (HeSP-3). The project combines baseline assessments and regional training to guide investments in human and animal health laboratory systems through a One Health approach.
The assessment phase covers ten national laboratory systems and ten central laboratories across the five countries. IQLS uses standardized laboratory assessment tools, combining participatory system-level workshops with facility-level visits to two central laboratories in each country. Each country assessment concludes with a restitution session to build consensus on the findings and identify prioritized recommendations for laboratory strengthening.
At the stage presented in the project update, assessments had been completed in Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo. The findings will be used to help define country priorities. Two regional training sessions are planned for the end of 2026, bringing together approximately 30 participants, with three human health and three animal health representatives from each country.
