Drs. Antoine Pierson and Abdoulaye Nikiema led a Workshop aiming at defining a national reference list of laboratory tests according to tiered levels for Albania.
The detailed goal of the workshop were numerous:
- Precise the tiered levels of laboratories in Albania
- Discuss about public health programs with laboratory component
- Review the analysis expected to be performed at each of these levels
- Provide list of analysis with small workload, expected to be performed abroad
- Define a core list of emergency analysis which should be available 24/7 at hospital level
- Discuss about analysis prescription, rationalization and standardization at national level: standardized guidelines, gatekeeping, diagnosis algorithms
- Use this opportunity to provide recommendations for the laboratory system and network
