As part of an agreement between the Ministry of Health of Benin and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and with the financial support of the Islamic Development Bank, IMeBio has provided three BSL-3 laboratories to the Ministry of Health of Benin with the aim of improving national diagnostic capacity of priority communicable diseases, including Ebola and Lassa hemorrhagic fevers, yellow fever, dengue, tuberculosis and COVID-19. One mobile laboratory will circulate throughout the country in accordance with the diagnostic needs, and its base will be the city of Calavi. IQLS has been contracted by IMeBio, designer and manufacturers of mobile BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs, to provide theoretical and practical training on the use of high-containment biological laboratories (BSL-3) and biosafety. The training sessions are led by IQLS experts Dr Erika Ornelas-Eusebio and Mr. Issé Rouamba.

A total of three one-week sessions will be carried out: The first session’s theoretical part was held in Cotonou while the practical part- in the city of Calavi, the base of the mobile laboratory. The two other sessions will take place in the laboratories of Ouidah and Parakou by the end of April 2022.
